If you do lose your job you must be paid at a minimum:
- Your notice pay, this depends on your years of service but if you’ve been there less than a year, you are entitled to 1 week’s pay
- Any accrued but untaken annual leave
- If your employer has more than 15 employees and you have been there for at least a year, you are also entitled to a redundancy payment based on your years of service
The above are your minimum entitlements under the National Employment Standards in the Fair Work Act 2009. If you have an enterprise agreement, you may be entitled to more. Some awards also have special redundancy provisions in them.
