Following tireless advocacy, and as a result of many courageous workers speaking up, the Victorian Government has committed to introducing new wage theft laws and establishing a state-based employment watchdog - the Victorian Wage Inspectorate.
We are encouraged to see politicians are taking action to address the wage theft epidemic, however our work is not yet done. The implementation, including the extent of police involvement, will greatly affect the success of these laws and the inspectorate.
Join us for our community roundtable to discuss what worker-friendly wage theft laws and enforcement will look like, and how we can advocate together around their implementation.
This event is for policymakers and representatives from community legal centres, unions, law firms, youth organisations, and others who want to see an end to wage theft in Victoria.
The Young Workers Centre strives to run inclusive and accessible events. Please contact Sarah Bright [email protected] to discuss any accessibility requirements.
Special thanks to Gordon Legal for hosting this event.
