Young Workers Centre congratulates our new Fair Work Commissioner

The Young Workers Centre congratulates Principal Solicitor Oanh Tran on her appointment as a Fair Work Commissioner.

As Principal Solicitor for the Young Workers Centre since 2019, Oanh has overseen an expansion of the centre from one solicitor to now four.

During Oanh's tenure the Young Workers Centre has reached the significant milestone of more than $2 million recovered for young workers for wage theft, discrimination and termination of employment matters.

Director of the Young Workers Centre Felicity Sowerbutts said “It is a bittersweet day for the Young Workers Centre as we are losing an immensely talented and inspirational Principal Solicitor in Oanh.”

“But we know she’ll be in a position to help even more young workers win justice in her new role”.

“We congratulate Oanh on her phenomenal achievements as our Principal Solicitor. She has been a staunch advocate for young workers, and has been instrumental in winning not only financial settlements but emotional closure for literally hundreds of young workers”.

“Our legal interns have been incredibly fortunate to learn from such a knowledgeable and passionate industrial relations solicitor.

“Oanh will definitely be missed at the Young Workers Centre, but we are so excited that she will bring her experience to the Fair Work Commission”.
